Odds & Sods, The Wilco Edition
Wilco (The Album) comes out today, but Jason Kidd will be have his ears perked for somebody else. Joe Girardi, an unpopular fellow in the Yankees' clubhouse, seems to have at least one local admirer. Nobody, though, cares for Brandon Jennings or his silly antics. Yao Ming is falling apart, while Eddy Curry's life continues to crumble around him.

Odds & Sods
The NBA decides that LeBron is one rebound less than awesome, and Mo Williams should probably just leave his game at home during the All-Star weekend. The Minnesota Twins hire their first groundskeeper in 20 years, while the Red Sox send moving vans to Fenway, as part of its annual Truck Day. Ray Lewis can set his sights on Florham Park, but Matt Cassel should probably hold off packing his bags, at least for now.

Stephen Marbury considers distant shores, while Alonzo Mourning is once again put out to pasture. Major League Baseball may have a major league bat problem on their hands, but Melky Cabrera, a AAAA outfielder if there ever was one, has about 1.4 million new reasons to celebrate. Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan says his team will get to meet President Obama one day, while the president's brother-in-law is still just looking for another win.

If you thought Team Aniston/Team Jolie spat was nasty, just wait for this summer’s Team Boozer/Team Millsap imbroglio. Meanwhile, Stephon Marbury’s turn in the Los Angeles spotlight was so self-aggrandizing he made Jack Nicholson look like Daniel Day-Lewis.
Manny is most likely Bronx-bound, but Rocco Baldelli, the pride of Woonsocket, Rhode Island, might be returning to form.

The New Yorker has some fantastic treats in this week’s issue. Take a bite out of this mouthwatering profile about the best little BBQ joint in Texas, which is, appropriately enough, run by a former rodeo clown and a middle school janitor. (I’m still partial to the Salt Lick myself). Wash it down with the magazine’s feature about Delaware’s Dogfish Head Beer. Fans of FreeDarko should check out the Seattle Weekly’s story—which includes the first coherent explanation of the most magically delicious basketball blog I’ve ever come across—about the mensch behind the site. My Knickerbockers just took a giant first step toward getting under the cap. And they’re apparently just getting started. Finally, FanIQ points out this hilarious video about what happens when mascots cross the line.

Odds & Sods
The mayors of Philadelphia, Phoenix and Atlanta might be more than a little cash starved, but C.C. Sabathia eats recessions for breakfast, lunch, dinner and, by the looks of him, in-between meals as well. Meanwhile, astronomers in California find images of new planets in distant galaxies on the same day India finally reaches the moon. In response to Proposition 8, Melissa Etheridge vents about her state, while fellow musician--and fellow Californian--Neil Young is more concerned about Detroit.

Ron Klain just became the 17th most powerful man in Washington, while the Jets think they're the team to beat in the AFC East. An Englishwoman claims to have unearthed the real-life Eleanor Rigby, as Mitch Mitchell, Jimi Hendrix's drummer—and, for my money, one of the three greatest rock drummers of his era—shuffled off this mortal coil. Probably on the downbeat. Oden's finally good to go, but Lego's suddenly all bent out of shape. Thomas Friedman® apparently doesn't know what he's talking about. What's worse, neither does Henry Paulson.

Odds & Sods
Obama likes what he sees in Gates, but Marty Burns loves what he sees in Atlanta. Joe Biden’s got himself a Thursday date in D.C., while Marte’s settling down in the Bronx. Bobby Jindal knows how to take a pitch. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is still completely bush league.
