The Craig Robinson-era got off to a slow start last night, as his Oregon State Beavers lost to the Howard Bison 47-45 in front of a raucous crowd at Howard University's Burr Gymnasium. The Beavers, who finished 2008 at the bottom of the Pac-10 with a 0-18 conference record, were hoping to get off to a fast start under First Brother-in-law Robinson, who last year guided Brown University to a second-place finish in the Ivy League.

Although Oregon State isn't expected to compete for the Pac-1o title this year, I doubt last night's loss to the middling Bison is sitting too well with Robinson and the rest of his coaching staff, who like to run pre-dawn practices, as they fly back to Oregon from the nation's capital.

The Beavers' next game is Saturday, November 22 against the University of Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno. Here at WGASIG, I'll be checking in periodically with Robinson and the OSU Beavers to measure the progress of his administration in relation to Obama's. Both of my readers (Hi, mom!) can thank me later.
