AI to Detroit?

As if the hiring of Michael Curry as head coach earlier this summer weren't proof enough, this morning's rumored trade is a pretty good indication that Detroit is gearing up for a rebuilding period. With Iverson's $22 million and Rasheed's $13.6 off the book's next year, the team basically just saved itself approximately $19 million with one transaction, while remaining somewhat competitive in a pretty stacked Eastern Conference.

Basically, though, this is a salary dump. Next year, the Pistons are going to have a ton of cap space. They'll also have a ton of cash on hand in 2010, when LeBron is expected to opt out of his current contract.  I'm interested to see what Dumars does next.
